Adobe Target Profile Script Examples
Aug 21, 2017I've actually stopped using profile scripts because I have found a much better way. Adobe DTM. I would recommend that you read this article. Stop Using Profile Scripts
But if you want to keep reading, here are some examples of profile scripts
A profile script is a snippet of JavaScript that saves an attribute about a visitor. These attributes are stored in the visitor’s profile and can be used for targeting campaigns.
Profile Script examples
The possible use cases for profile scripts are endless because you can feed and manipulate the data using JavaScript. It makes it possible to store just about anything that you would want to target off of. Here are a few examples.
- Running multiple tests at a time in Adobe Target.. Often teams will want to split traffic in isolated groups to run more than one test at a time. Profile scripts can split traffic into two or more groups so that testing doesn’t overlap.
- Visit Count. With a visit count profile script, you can store and increment the visit every time the user returns to your site.
- Total Lifetime Purchase Value. Similar to a visit count, you could store the total amount a user has spent on your site. Every time they make a purchase, you can add to that total.
- Has Visited a URL. Sometimes you may want to target users who have visited a particular page. You can store this in a profile script.
- User Has Seen A Url Parameter. Profile Scripts can be used to store anything that was passed in the url. This is helpful for targeting a url parameter on subsequent pages. For example, the landing page url may have a campaign parameter. On the first page of the checkout, the parameter is no longer there, but you can still target it because you saved it in a profile script.
